DID: Decentralized Identity❎

DID: Dissociative Identity Disorder✔️

When we Googled DID, the first explanation is Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) which is a medical term rather than the crypto concept(Decentralized Identity) we knew already. Compared to DeFi, GameFi, NFT, and DAO, DID is a highly neglected area that has not received enough attention from investment institutions and technology developers.

In the context of the Decentralised Society (DeSoc) with a richer and more diverse ecosystem, so we believe that DID is a key component of building DeSoc, but also a crucial portal to Web 3. Previously, we had pinned our hopes on the NFT’s unique characteristics to complete the identification in Web 3. In reality, however, some NFT artists and creators are bothered by plagiarism and fraud. For example, Rarible auctioned off the unlicensed artwork of Derek Laufman, the designer of Marvel's Super Hero Adventures. By its nature, it is arguably not Web 3 at all.

Due to DID being the hub of all digital, it is imperative to create a shared, flexible and resilient identity layer. As DIDs are adopted by more users and Dapps, all digital processing permissions are to be in the hands, of the one who is not confined to a single application system, multiple accounts and password records. Only based on DID Web3 empowerment like DeFi, GameFi, NFT and DAO, as well as other promising scenarios, it will blossom into a more exciting narrative.

The full research report is divided into three chapters:

Chapter 3: Another attempt to find yourself

1. The media is the message, the soul is the identity

Decentralisation has brought about a return to personal values, and DID is a complement to DeSoc in a broader sense. In the context of Vitalik's talk of a future world as a decentralised society (DeSoc), DID can enable a richer, more diverse ecosystem, and empower key decomposable property rights and enhanced governance mechanisms.

Of course, there is a long journey on the way to the Web 3.0 world based on the mixed reality society swapped to the physical world. The DID will become a unique identifier for individuals and will be used in a much wider context than just the Web 3.0 web world.

If everything is to be decentralised, then it is only right that identities are decentralised, and a decentralised society that continues to use Twitter and Facebook is clearly not going to be a long-term solution. When Web 3.0 becomes the new infrastructure, then feeding into the real world is possible. Debank, for example, has already had some success with displaying on-chain activity as a personal showcase page around on-chain addresses.

Whereas DeGenScore has gone further by focusing on scoring individual in-chain activity, credit records have shown their power in the real world, which has demonstrated a more effective aspect compared to traditional risk control.

This is to some extent a departure from the idea of the DID as a Web 3.0 portal, becoming a node for on-chain and off-chain interactions, for interactions between Web 3.0 and Web 2.0, and for interactions between peoples, and can also be seen as an entity for the "soul" of human society in its progression to digital DeSoc. This is much broader than the concept of a portal.

2. Towards a further digital society

ThePrimedia attempts to reintroduce the concept of metaverse here, it is a collection of technology and industry that build a metaverse space to reconfigure the digital society with Web3 decentralisation, Token incentives and DAO governance. This is an update to Zuckerberg's metaverse. If the metaverse space was just a digital space for games, entertainment and offices, we would have to use high-end chip technology, integrated circuit systems, more efficient network communication technologies (5G/6G), and VR/AR/MR/XR hardware, and advanced virtual engines and interaction technologies, wearable biosensor and motion capture hardware, and software to enable somatic responses and highly immersive experiences in the virtual space, but Is it all worth it

Therefore, Web3 decentralisation, token incentive mechanism and DAO governance will give a better social system and governance structure home to human digital evolution, which is worthy of human gathering the power to construct digital space and the metaverse. Therefore, this metaverse scenario will also be more ambitious than Vitalik's decentralised society (DeSoc).

Only if the portal function of DID's Web 3.0 realised, it will be possible on a larger scale of time. And then, decentralized society (DeSoc) will complete the reconstruction of social order and rules in the metaverse.

3. DID's role: from portal to link

Privacy was actually the marketing slogan for early DID project promotions. As long as there is enough data on a chain address, it is not difficult to find out who you are, just like the smart money tracking function, which has become a basic configuration and can even be monetized as a subscription function.

So the core of DID is still the ability to interact. Public chains can be linked with L2 and bridges, and DeFi assets can be stored through wallets, and traded through CEX and DEX. But DID and the Web 3.0 network behind it is essentially a next generation internet covering consumer level applications, excessive Gas fees are an unsustainable business model, cross-chain and cross-Dapp interaction must become a basic function, otherwise it will become an information isolated island, which requires addressing a number of issues:

1. excessive Gas Fee must be avoided, if not free then cheap enough for the average user to have an incentive to migrate and try out the DID.

2. the product story needs a new narrative system, or privacy, or token, or a new trend, and it must first achieve consensus in the crypto before it can be promoted outward.

DID is like a door that can be large enough as a way to guarantee decentralisation. But it is also important to ensure that there is content to read, otherwise users will never be retained and the DIDs in charge will be useless. Our exploration of DIDs is itself based on our belief that Web 3.0 is the future.

The logic of DID's value discovery and psychoanalysis lies in the entrance and linking nodes, but it also covers the spiritual pursuit of human evolution towards the digital world, which must be a higher order of existence than the current rules and order of production, life, wealth, freedom and social governance in the world.

In order to achieve all of this, both in terms of value opportunities and soul pursuiting, we need to recognise that DIDs cannot stand on their own, but must be mutually reinforcing and grow with Web 3.0.

To repeat our opening opinion. As DIDs are adopted by more users and Dapps, all digital processing permissions are to be in the hands, the one who is not confined to a single application system, multiple accounts and password records. Only based on DID Web3 empowerment like DeFi, GameFi, NFT and DAO, as well as other promising scenarios, it will blossom into a more exciting narrative.
